Penny Sutton

Board of Directors

Sevier County
Sevierville Middle School

Penny Trentham Sutton is a 6th – 8th grade RLA teacher at Sevierville Middle School and is completing her thirteenth year of teaching. She looks forward to the challenges and rewards of implementing the CCSS and will continue to meet students where they are and also inspire them beyond. Penny believes in preparing students for college and career readiness but also recognizes the "CCSS alone will not get them there.” With the diverse backgrounds and learning styles of students, it does indeed take a village to raise a child and to help youth find success.

Penny has proudly served as Sevier County’s PET president for the past six years and has sat on PET’s Board of Directors for the past year. As a result of PECCA and a vote in 2012, Sevier County Professional Educators of Tennessee earned a seat at the collaborative conferencing table, where Penny happily represents all teachers in her county. In 2009, Penny was chosen by WBIR, Channel 10 in Knoxville, as Teacher of the Week. She is a member of First Baptist Church, Sevierville, serves as a leader in its C.A.R.E. Ministry, and is a member of Tennessee Baptist Disaster Relief. Her greatest accomplishment is her two sons – Matthew (22) and Eric (19).
