Statement on Testing Hold Harmless Provision

Students, teachers and districts will be held harmless for this year’s TNReady results after hard work by legislators in the Tennessee General Assembly today.  Test results this school year will only count if it benefits students, educators and districts.

“We are very pleased legislators ensured that employment or compensation decisions based on the data cannot be used” according to JC Bowman, Executive Director of Professional Educators of Tennessee.  He added: “I think everyone, despite their position on the testing wanted this to be a success.”
