I am retired, but will be substituting part-time. Is this the right membership for me?

No. This type of membership does not include Professional Educators of Tennessee's Liability Protection Coverage. If you will be teaching in a classroom, even as a substitute, you need to join as a professional member.

Every Educator knows that career plans must eventually include retirement plans. Retired Professionals are those who continue to be involved in local public education and in the well-being of their communities. The retired educator has a vested interest in advocating for improved benefits for all public education retirees and promotes the well-being of the education community. We want retired educators to continue to have a voice in their chosen profession. Retired memberships are an affordable way for retired educators to stay in touch with their profession and support the efforts of current public educators. In addition, retired members have access to Professional Educators of Tennessee services and discounts, which provide valuable opportunities to save money.

We understand you have a choice to join the association that best represents your ethics and philosophy, and we respect your choice. We certainly hope you will make the decision to join our organization. We also extend a hand to any educator to talk about what is really needed to help our students, and then deal with the realities of prioritizing our resources. The more people who are involved, the better our education system is going to become.
